The gentleman that helped me at the counter was great.

Pam was awesome. (The woman who checked our car out). She was super friendly and quick.

I called local agent while traveling to ask question. He referred me to a (useless) 800 number which had never answered. Agent hung up and would not answer my subsequent phone call. His name was John (Bedford).

The worst. The rental car company cancelled my car less than 24 hours before pick up and didn’t offer me an alternate solution. Terrible customer service

I got to the counter and nobody was there to help. I had to phone the guy who attended and got a smoke smelling car from some friends. Really a bad experience

I will NEVER use Hertz again. I specifically rented a pickup truck. I understand that it says, if they don’t have that pickup, it would be something similar, but they tried to put me in a minivan after I walked in and they told me they haven’t had a pickup truck there in months! Why wouldn’t you call me and tel me that? I had specific needs and requested the pickup truck. The manager, Abby, was rude, and told me, sorry, but it “is what it is”, and offered me the minivan or nothing, and told me to decide if I wanted it or leave! Absolutely terrible customer service.

Hertz’ customer support was awful. They were difficult to get through to and totally unhelpful.

Hertz was very unprofessional. They called me a few hours before I was scheduled to pick up my reservation and told me they had no cars for me. They didn’t help me find a car at a different location, and I had to call around myself. I spent 2 hours on the phone with them trying to find a car and trying to get them to honor the price I reserved the car at. They were not helpful at all and it was a terrible experience. They were then going to charge me for changing a pickup location (even though they caused this change by not having a car there for me like they were supposed to) and then I had to pay $400 extra in fees and taxes at the new pickup location. When I went to return the car when the rental was complete, I showed up to the door at 7:50 and the man just stared at me and wouldn’t open the door and gave me the “no” finger wave. He then opened the door at 8:02 and all he did was take the key from me and say “you’re all set”. This was an awful experience and I won’t be using hertz ever again.

The reserved vehicle was not available.

National gave away our minivan. We were traveling with an infant and my elderly mother-in-law. They left us stranded at the airport.

Renting a vehicle for summer trip out of Boston (or anywhere!) was much more challenging than ever due to (almost post) COVID and the shortage with high gas prices. Everyone I interacted with through National acted as if the knew me and actually cared that we got what we needed (minivan for 6 + luggage), we’re super helpful with delayed pick up due to Hurricane Elsa blowing through, and even made sure we secured a safe Uber to get everyone (+ more luggage!) back to the airport as stress free as possible. What potentially could have been the most challenging part of our trip was a delight!
