bought damage waiver at around $45/ day, then walked 10 mins to the car lot and shown the car for us that had major front and other damage to the car, then told by unrecognizable attendant that if I wanted a non-dented car I had to walk all the way back to the rental counter, the attendant was indignant about wanting to change out the car and could not believe it was that bad, then I showed her a picture and she then could say nothing and gave me a new car, the worst run operation I have ever exerienced

Was forced to purchase their insurance because I didn't have my auto insurance card with me. I did provide them the name of the carrier. Who carries their insurance card around with them? Whole thing Made no sense, and Felt like a money-grab. Car was late model but not super clean. Check out attendant was pleasant.

My car’s flat tire light was on, they told me it was just a sensor and not to worry about it. The car only had 17,000 miles on it but it was all beat up, scratched and dented and the molding was falling off the doors and trunk. On day 2 the battery died and I was stuck trying to find jumper cables for a few hours because the Avis help number was useless and the number for the local rental on the contract was never answered after about 200 tries. I was also given at least 2 other non working numbers and was on the phone with no resolution for hours that day because they could not get me in touch with the “right” people. I was unable to reach them and afraid to use the car so I did not use it for the rest of the week. Terrible car, terrible customer service.

Staff was friendly enough but not helpful. When we arrived there were people waiting for vehicles. Some were waiting 1/2 an hour or so. The check-in process was slow. Once assigned a car, you walk a while, self document damage and go. Our vehicle was badly damaged on all four bumpers. As we would drive and hear things rattling, we were sure a bumper would fall off. It didn't, but it wasn't at all good. The return process is not clear. There's no help. Limited signage. And this is a rental place inside the airport; typically a seamless process. The cost was a very poor value at about $150/ day for a Hyundai Elantra. Do not recommend.

Five minute wait at Budget counter ok. Only Budget and Hertz have on site at Cyril King in St Thomas. Quick return. Just parked in budget stall and dropped off keys. JHD

Vehicle was damaged in multiple areas and took pictures of entire vehicle inside and outside due to threat by staff that if it was damaged or came with 1 mile less than a full tank of gas, I would be charged. I had bought the insurance at time of reservation and the insurance even said they might try to have me buy another insurance policy….which they pushed. So technically, I bought both the extra policy online and had my personal insurance policy which had rental car coverage but they wanted me to take another one out at the rental desk threatening me that if the vehicle was damaged in any way….my credit card would be charged the value of the vehicle. Between that and the gas statement…..they make a hard push to tack on extras. I did get gas 2 miles away and they did a checkin quickly and no additional charges so far on credit card.

I arrived to pick up my car and was told none were available. I was told that I could be placed on a waiting list behind approximately eight other customers and that they might have something available in 2 hours or that they could try for tomorrow.

The staff were generally rude to customers as a whole.

We waited THREE hours in line to pick up our rental. Upon arrival at the desk, we were told that the rental was not in their system, that they were sold out, and that there was no car for us. We called the corporate line and were told that the rental was visible but the representative at the local St Thomas rental office declared that it had "not been ported over" to them and thus there was nothing they could do for us. We reserved the rental FIVE months in advance and were left stranded in an unknown place...with children. It wasn't a great start to our much needed vacation.

When we picked up the car the attendant was very short with us and we could hardly follow what she was saying. This was the first time me and my new wife have ever rented a car and when she asked for us to pay we just used a debit card. We were than charged and extra 28 or so dollars a day because we didn't use a credit card, which wasn't mentioned until after she charged the card, and we weren't fully aware of this beforehand. We than asked her if we could switch our payment method to a credit card, which we had with us, to avoid the extra fee. She quickly and rudely respond that she couldn't do that for us since she already ran our card. Like I mentioned this was the first time we have ever rented a car and will likely be the last time we rent with Hertz unless we can somehow get this sorted out.
