Requested pick up at STL airport @5:00 PM. Kayak made the reservation at an "off site" Hertz location (not at airport)... that closed at 5PM. There was no "heads up" that the reservation was at a different location than I requested... you would have had to look up the address. When I took the Hertz shuttle to the airport rental office, I was told that the airport lot was out of cars and that the offsite location was closed until the following morning. I was stuck in the airport with no car! Since I was meeting customers and staying out of town.... this was a major issue! Kayak should have highlighted that the rental location they selected was different than I requested... and NEVER should have booked the pick up at the time the office closed!

Got into airport at Midnight, only to find out all the rental places close at 8. Why couldn’t my email mention that. Because my email stated my arrival time. Luckily Hertz gave me a full refund.

Everything was perfect until I got phone calls saying I was overdue on returning my rental. I had dropped the car off in a local lot and put the key in the drop box prior to the due time on Monday, 9/5/22, the phone calls started on Wednesday. Still no emailed receipt from Hertz. Will never rent from them again. Saw online this has happened hundreds of times. Kayak should reconsider partnering with Hertz.

The staff member that helped us when we picked up was amazing. She was working with what she was delivered from the airport which were smoked in dirty, beat up cars. She was so frutrated with the cars conditions and the lack of caring when she called the main office she upgraded us to a larger vehicle which was the correct thing to do!

Thrifty needs to care about the cars that are availabel to the public to rent. The girl at facility when we picked up went over the no smoking rules with everything else, we actually said no problem because myself and our youngest are extremely sensative and allergic to cigarette smoke..She pulled up in the first car..got out and said well its clean but it says on ticket had been smoked in. We could tell when we sat in car for a second.we said it will not work! The second car smelled as if someone had just smoked marijuana and got out. The moment we opened the car door I got a headache from the smell..UNEXCEPTABLE!!!!! she then called the main office and they gave her trouble and sounded like they could care less. There were also extra fees that were not mentioned on the site when I booked it..limitations to states we could not drive it to. NONE of that was listed. We paid the extra fee (280$) so we could drive our trip..Thank god we were not going out west because we would have been screwed! We were not happy to find out about this when we picked the car up! I have tried calling the GM of St Louis Thrifty(Jeff) twice and have yet to hear back from him! We will never rent from Thrifty again!!

They were excellent! I screwed up and showed up at a different location from where I made the rental reservation. They straightened things out, got me a car—even though they had a long line of people renting vehicles—and even matched my initial rate for me! They turned a near catastrophe into a successful trip.

Really, not anything. They were helpful, professional, and friendly.

The line to pick up our pre-paid rental at Avis was over 70 minutes waiting outside in the hot sun in an uncovered parking lot at the St. Louis airport. The line got much longer as we waited. Those at the back must have waited over two hours. We heard that they ran out of cars.

I would not rent from Budget/Avis. Wait line was over two hours and by the time I left, there were 50 people waiting behind me. Apparently this is standard practice for them. I won't use them again. (Car was fine, no issues. Staff were also very friendly and helpful, not their fault in my opinion.)
