Fashion Week Spotlight: Staerk
Madonna, The Raveonettes, Maggie Gyllenhaal and SJP are fans. Are you ready to join the ranks?
Gen Art Pulse has written a nice post about Danish Camille Staerk:
Camilla
Staerk (Staerk means Strong in Danish) is one great Dane. After up and moving from London to New York
last year, she presented an amazing Spring '08 show to her adoring
stateside fans—fulfilling a dream of hers. And her fall line, rest
assured, will not disappoint. Staerk is known for its modernism, minimalism, and clean lines—for making a statement by being ever-so-stylishly understated.
Presented exclusively by Gen Art in our first ever solo show (at the
Scandinavia House, natch), Staerk's fall collection, "Bride of the
Black Moon" will mark an exciting return to her signature subdued color
palette and inspiring use of leather and lace. Just hours before the
show, Staerk (who had been sick with the flu) let us sneak backstage
before the models hit the stage for a behind-the-scenes look at the
makeup tests and fittings, here

we gave all of our favorite alums: a little homework about where the
girl she designs for can be found dining, what she's listening to, who
she's crushing on, what she's drinking and what nabe she calls home
sweet home!
